On Friday, May 28th we luckily had nothing planned for the day because my good friend, Linda from Houston was in Arlington for the 2010 Summer Games. Her son, Steven who is 26 years old (defining all the odds) has participated in the Special Olympics for 12 years, but this was the first time I made over to watch him!
It was hot hot day, but we ate some lunch waiting for Steven's turn to run in the prelims.
On the far left in the yellow shirt is Linda's Mom heading to the finish line.
Steven is in the Yellow shirt running his heart out.
Linda runs with him she is on the side lines and running ahead of him. If you are not at the end - he stops when he sees you.

The smile on his face as his finished the race was great. His Momma was proud too!
The entire experience was am
azing. Just from my perspective .....There are tons and tons of athletes participating just from Texas and three times as many family members, friends and volunteers.
The event was at University of Texas - Arlington. The kids decided they wanted to run the football field while we were down on it to congratulate Steven.
Very glad we went - it was wonderful to see Linda, her Mom and Stevie.
We must try to do it again next year. Sounds like the open ceremonies are fun as well!
