How many of you watch Super Nanny and know what the naughty spot is? In our household we have two very intelligent 16 month old children that know what and where the naughty spot is located. Basically the naughty spot is a place to put the child when their behavior is not acceptable after giving them a warning. Their time on the naughty spot = 1 minute for every year they are old. Then you explain to them why they were put on there, ask them to say they are sorry, tell them you love them and then give them a hug and a kiss.
Well we have two monkeys that really enjoy climbing on the coffee table. We consider this unacceptable behavior because we don't want them doing it at other peoples houses. Therefore we are starting to use this technique. The first time we used it we had two children screaming and squirming around wanting to the get out. The second time that we used it they weren't as bad as the first. Heck now when we were are giving a warning and telling them if they do it again that they are going to the naughty spot they both will go over and sit on the exact location. I can't help but look at Erynn and just start laughing.
This morning I had warned Sean and he went over and sat there not very long, came back over and started climbing again so I put him in the spot and made him sit there for the full minute. He didn't scream but squirmed a little bit.
