Liberty by The Lake 5k and Fun Run - July 4th, 2009

Part of our Annual tradition is to participate in The Liberty by the Lake here in The Colony.

Daddy asked Hadley to hold part of his registration form, so here she is reading it just after we arrived at 7:15 am.








Here are Sean & Hadley with cousin Blake.







Almost ready for the big One Mile Fun Run.

Blake, Sean, Hadley, Roz and Adam. Julia and Kelly went to the restroom for a pit stop before the race began.

Blake said he wanted to take off and run it to win. Sean had been telling us all week he was going to run with Blake, but I told Blake to just run and not worry about us that we would find him at the finish line.

Everyone patiently waiting for the Horn to sound and when it did we ALL JUMPED out of our skin as if we weren't expecting it!

Now Julia is lined up and read to run!!









We took off and not long after rounding the first turn Sean got tripped up and fell and skinned his knee.

But, he shook it off and kept on chugging.



Baby girl is a little slower, but she was running it as fast as she could and STILL holding Daddy's paper for him (even though it was trash).







Blake did take off and leave us all in his dust, but we waited at the finish line and did not go around the park again to watch him cross the finish line.





Then we went up to watch the 5k start. This time the horn did not scare us as much.








We had no idea where in the group Pat and Ryan were, so we were just watching all the runners go by. Then I caught a glimpse of them and this was the only shot I could get.

At the end we got up to the finish line just after they ran across it in under 30 mins (27 mins 32 secs), so too late to snap a picture.

All in all we had a great day at the race.
