Father's Day Poker Project

After golf on Saturday, the 20th we had everyone over for a pool party and then poker.

When the guys went inside to play poker in the dining room Todd noticed asked what the water leak was from?!

We had not noticed before then.


So, we took these pictures about 1 am before going to bed. Then neither of us slept well worried it was leaking more and going to bust. Those of you who know my cousin Jared & Jen understand totally why I thought this might happen after their Mother's Day weekend in 2008.


But, the next morning there was no change that we could see or tell.

So, we all loaded up and headed to Home Depot.

Here is Pat about to cut into the wall or the ceiling to see if he can uncover the reason for the water damage.

He decided to go with the ceiling and found that a nail from the crown molding had pierced the hot water pex tubing to the laundry room.

Yes, probably over three years ago when the house was built.

So, we have had a SLOW leak for some time.

Here are the monkey's - helping Daddy. Note they are using their own tools and banging on Daddy's ladder......not much help and VERY noisy.


Well, I forgot to take a picture after all was busted into. But, Pat fixed & patched the leak.


We then ran a few loads of laundry to be sure and another trip to Home Depot to see if we could "fix it' our selves.



Pat did a great job patching, mudding, etc. the ceiling. Before he got to the wall we found someone to give us a quote on finishing it.

He came last Sunday at 9 am and now you can barely tell anything happened and we have not even painted yet!

We put the room back together last night to get ready for company tomorrow and our annual 4th of July party on Saturday, but unless you read this or were here on Father's Day you probably won't know to look or notice it!

Good thing Pat won at Poker that night to help pay for it!
